Recording in Prague

Dear friends,

I just returned from Prague where I had the most amazing three days!

Making music has always been a very exciting thing for me, something very special and precious, whether I sing a whole role from an opera, a lieder, or a french melody…. When working with living composers though, the whole experience becomes even more special. There’s a spark in the air, a slight anticipation, and the question of whether I am able to produce what the composer has in mind. The last three days have been particularly exciting, as it was the first time for me to work with a living composer in a recording studio, where things work in a slightly different way than a live performance at a concert hall.

This truly breathtaking composition about Peace and Love, written by the Vienna-based Cypriot composer Roman Kariolou, was recorded on Saturday at Smecky Music Studio in Prague, with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The experience for me was unforgettable and the result is utterly Beautiful, Magical, almost ‘Sacred’.  There’s not much more I can say about the piece at the moment, as the first time to be heard will be on the 1st of October at Eleftheria Stadium in Nicosia, during the Grand Finale of the Emblematic Celebration to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus (please see previous blog).

What I can say with certainty though, is that this piece is here to touch peoples’ hearts and generate feelings of Peace and Love.  I am so thankful and happy to have worked with composer Roman Kariolou and conductor Enrique Ugarte, two extremely talented and inspirational musicians. None of this would have taken place if it weren’t for another very special person, the artistic director of the event, the incredible stage designer, very dear colleague and friend, Andy Bargilly, whose artistic vision and ideas are quite remarkable.

You can book your seats by obtaining ‘Entry Tickets’ to the Stadium, from the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus in Nicosia. Thousands are set to enjoy this spectacular celebration, so make sure you obtain your tickets early!!!

See you all soon,

KaterinaXxx
