Ronda in Spain!

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well and enjoy your summer. I’m writing a blog while having a wonderful holiday in Ronda, one of Spain’s oldest and most historical towns. I love the mountains here, the famous bridge in Ronda and the great views! I was really looking forward to this short break between performances, as the last few months have been very productive and busy. I was in Samos last week where I gave two concerts within the 13th Manolis Kalomiris Festival, with pianist Elena Mouzalas and violinist Charis Chadjigeorgiou. The concerts went very well and I was so happy to visit Samos, a truly beautiful Greek island.

Prior to Samos I was performing Fiordiligi from ‘Cosi fan tutte’ in London and I am very pleased to say how much I enjoyed the shows and singing the role again. I’m looking forward to the tour of Cosi later on in the autumn where some of the shows will be in collaboration with Bangkok Opera. Just before singing Fiordiligi I was in Athens for a concert at the House of Cyprus and was very happy to meet with friends and colleagues while there. I’m hoping to go back to Athens for more work in 2010, so keep fingers crossed!

It’s so nice to be able to get away from the routine for a few days and rest, sleep, eat and breathe fresh air! Saying that, I’m really looking forward to returning to London and starting rehearsals on Poulenc’s opera ‘La Voix Humaine’ which is the next project lined up. I’m working a lot on the libretto at the moment as it is a 40 minute monologue and it’s important to feel very comfortable with the text before production rehearsals begin. I will write again soon and give you all the information about the shows in case you would like to make arrangements to attend and visit Cyprus in September!
