… was a great success and a very special project indeed!
I hope that you are well and happy and that you had a nice time over the Easter weekend. Most of mine was spent over operatic scores and musical notes… but I don’t complain as I like to keep busy with my singing, which is the second thing I love most after my beloved husband.
March was such a busy month; it started off really well with rehearsals of La Boheme in London and then in Dubai where we ended up performing the opera. Mimi is one of my favourite roles both vocally and as a character. Even though she suffers with her illness, Mimi is very strong to be both flirtatious and courageous throughout the whole opera, even during her death scene. It was a real pleasure to work with the European Chamber Opera, Music Director Carl Penligton Williams and the wonderful members of the cast, and I am truly delighted to be asked by the company to sing Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte) in London and on a tour in the Far East and Middle East.
I will be adding La Boheme photos and reviews on the website soon! Oh, I will also be adding a clip of the Madame Figaro Awards’ Ceremony, the moment when I receive my award… (sorry, it will all be in Greek but it is fun to look at), and I must also find a way of including in the website my interview for OK! Magazine back in February, so watch out for all these!!!
… After Dubai I returned to London where new repertoire was waiting for me, lots of rehearsals, and two concerts at St. John’s Smith Square. All went well in the end and as soon as the concerts finished I started working on two operas, Cosi Fan Tutte and La Voix Humaine by Poulenc. Both roles are happening in the second half of 2009, along with a lot of concert work including a world premiere and Beethoven’s Symphony No.9. I am very thankful for the work that is being offered to me and I look forward to it with great enthusiasm and joy.
I’ll be talking to you again about my exciting future work and plans…
In the meantime, I would like to send a special THANK YOU to Ms Athena Ariosa Charalambous who sponsors me with the most wonderful Argentinian Facial and Make-Up Products, Antology Internacional by LACA. This is a blog ‘on singing opera’ but let’s not forget how important the skin and the make-up of an opera singer is! I have been using the products for a year now and I strongly recommend them to everyone who wants to keep their skin youthful and fresh at all times! I wouldn’t change them for any other products.
I must sign off now… It’s quite late and tomorrow is another busy day… so it’s goodnight from me. I look forward to speaking to you soon and I send you all my best wishes and love,
