KALO MHNA!

It’s the 1st of April, Kalo Mhna to everyone! May you all have a Good Month (as we say in Greece), peaceful, happy and very productive. Spring is finally on its way and I’m writing my second Blog, still feeling very excited about it!

I’m so happy to be working on new repertoire at the moment for my forthcoming engagements, and exploring new operatic arias and styles as I go along learning and training ‘la voce’!!! I’ll be in Athens soon, I’ve been asked to perform at the House of Cyprus in Kolonaki with the Greek pianist Elena Mouzala. The concert is part of the book presentation of Daphne’s Nikita poetic collection ‘The Raining Wagon’. I’ll be singing a group of beautiful contemporary songs set to music on poems from this collection, by the Cypriot composer Constantinos Stylianou. The songs are part of the song cycle Of the Beautiful Kingdom that I performed back in November, so it’s really nice to sing part of the cycle again. I love Greece, as much as I love Cyprus! My father comes from Xanthi, a small town in the North of Greece, where my grand parents were refugees from Minor Asia. It’s wonderful to be asked to sing in Greece and I look forward to be doing more work there in the near future.

The charity concert ‘For the Love of Children’ which was scheduled for May 12 had to be postponed for a later time, due to a bureaucratic delay with the registration of the fund-raising organisation Lefkos Angelos, who is also the organiser of the concert. As soon as we have a new date for the concert I will let you know! Lefkos Angelos is a new non profitable charity organisation, offering monetary aid and support to children and families in need, in Cyprus and other countries. All profits from ticket sales of the concert ‘For the Love of Children’ will be donated to the Cyprus Society for the Protection of Spastic & Handicapped Children, the Health Center Vranje in Serbia and the Arab Orphan’s Home in Palestine.
