MY FIRST BLOG...

So, this is my first blog, and I am really excited about it! I have been so busy lately that I don’t have much time for myself but I’m not complaining!

The New Year started off nicely with intense rehearsals and a wonderful concert to celebrate the accession of Cyprus into the Euro area, where I was part of a bigger cast, still the only soprano though, which is always nice… performed the Symphonic Works Helen and Rime d’Amore (world-premiere), by the Cypriot composer Christos Pittas whose music touches my heart. It was a great pleasure to work with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Alkis Baltas, baritone Kyros Patsalides, tenor Nikos Stefanou and the exceptionally talented singer Alkinoos Ioannidis.

Straight after that I started working on a whole recital of beautiful Lieder by Schubert, to poems by Goethe and Mueller, which took place at PASYDY Auditorium in Nicosia last week. My pianist for this recital was the German pianist and composer Gerhard Folkerts, whom I am delighted to have met and worked with and it was such a wonderful treat for me to visit him in Hamburg for the rehearsals. Actually, we were rehearsing in Wedel, a beautiful town near Hamburg, where all I was doing was: singing Schubert, eating and sleeping! LOVED it and look forward to going back there for some more work, hopefully! Have you guys ever experienced this wonderful feeling of total inner calmness and joy? Well, this was Wedel for me!!!

So, quite a lot of travelling recently, oh, I forgot to mention the concerts I did in Hampshire before the Schubert project… I am very happy to be back in the UK for a little while now, with my ever supportive and wonderful husband Dimitris. Today I had my singing lesson, which is always a great thing but even more so when I’ve been away and haven’t had one for a while! No time to rest, I’m preparing for auditions, a big charity event, a concert in Athens, and Easter is so early this year!!! I’ll speak to you soon.
